BOI Scrap

What is Copper PCB Laminate Scrap (BOI View)?

👉 This material was imported duty-free as production raw material
👉 But scrap still contains recoverable copper (15% – 40%)

Scrap includes:

  • Panel routing edge off-cuts
  • Drill reject PCB
  • Bare board warp reject
  • Misprint solder mask board
  • Copper laminate sheet leftover
  • Inner layer laminate trimming

Copper inside laminate scrap has:

  • High resale value
  • Recoverable smelting potential
  • Secondary market demand

Without inspection BOI may assume:

✔ Factory imported Copper duty-free
✔ Did minimal processing
✔ Sold copper into Thai domestic market as scrap

1. Before BOI Scrap Disposal Request

While applying for:

  • Raw Material Write-off
  • Scrap Generation Report
  • F-STOCK Adjustment
  • Sor.Kor. 1 Disposal Approval

Inspection confirms:

  • Scrap origin from production
  • Copper content %
  • Non-recoverability for original PCB use
  • Scrap generation yield loss

2. Before Selling to Local Recycler

Thailand has many buyers who purchase:

  • PCB laminate off-cut
  • Copper layer reject boards
  • Routing skeleton

But BOI needs proof that:

✔ It cannot be reused as PCB
✔ Copper cannot be directly reclaimed in factory
✔ Sold as recycling input only

Inspection helps justify:

  • Domestic sale approval
  • Scrap value declaration
  • Accounting write-off

3. Before Exporting PCB Scrap

If exporting to:

  • Japan
  • Korea
  • Malaysia
  • EU recyclers

Inspection confirms:

  • Copper recovery ratio
  • Resin contamination
  • Metal composition
  • Net recoverable weight

📍 WHERE Inspection Happens?

Normally at:

  • PCB warehouse reject area
  • Routing scrap storage zone
  • SMT bare board quarantine
  • Production yield loss yard
  • Container loading point
