For BOI-registered companies (which are often export-oriented manufacturers), the BOI Scrap Inspector is a pivotal figure. Their role is to:
- Ensure Compliance: Verify that the disposal of scrap (including PCBA) aligns with the BOI agreement, National Environmental Act, and CEA guidelines.
- Prevent Revenue Loss: Ensure high-value scrap is sold transparently at fair market prices, maximizing foreign exchange repatriation for the company and the country.
- Prevent Environmental Harm: Ensure scrap is only released to CEA-approved/licensed recyclers or exporters who have the technical capability to handle it responsibly.
- Documentation & Traceability: Oversee the entire process—from quantification and tagging within the factory, to bidding, to final export/sale. They often must verify and sign off on shipping documents.
